Weekend of Flowers

This weekend I went to the Spirit of Spring fair.  I attended a Jubilee floral arrangement class run by Wendy Black, The Dorchester’s resident florist and sponsored by the Flower Council, a Dutch body promoting and inspiring with plants and flowers.  My usual process of flower arranging involves filling a vase with water and adding flowers. I’m guessing I’m not alone…  I’m feeling rather proud of myself as they turned out really well, and were so fragrant.  I gave my Jubilee bouquet to my mother.

On Sunday, I found myself strolling around Sheen Garden centre.  If you have some outdoor space, I highly recommend you visit as they stock an array of beautiful, seasonal plants and flowers.  Divided into sections of herbs, fragrant flowers, vegetables, trees and every form of greenery you can again.  A real South-West London treat!

There is nothing more delightful than to be surrounded by flowers! Is that your arrangement in the first photo? Love the colours!

PS: New lens, or have you figured out how to play with depth of field? ;)

I figured it out! I don’t think I should buy another lens until I know how to use the two I already have!

Yes, that’s my arrangement. Pretty good for a beginner, right?

I would very much like to attend a floral arrangement class and to learn a little about the flower language too. Beautiful bouquet, Milla!

Thank you Ada. It was a little overwhelming as the class went so quickly. I picked up some good tips and now feel more confident about making my own little bouquets at home. I will definitely attend another one to build on my skills.
