Juicing At Home

I bought my juicer around 6 years ago and it’s still going strong. My Magimix Le Duo cost £129 and was arguably the best money I’ve ever spent. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been juicing all sorts: spinach, carrots, apples, kale, celery, lemons, cucumber, beetroot and crazy amounts of ginger. These juices make for a great pick-me-up, as part of a cleanse and to help balance out those sweet cravings. More often than not, my sugar addiction takes over but instead munching through a box of Turkish Delight, I’ve been juicing some beetroot, carrot and ginger et voilà, a sweet nutritional boost. Good for my waistline and conscience!

My favorite is a combo is apple, ginger and carrot. Simple and easy, but delicious.

Sometimes the simple ones are best. I think that was the first juice I ever tried and I expected it to be horrible, and now look at me: juice addict!

One of my best friends was given an expensive juicer for his birthday. I’m so jealous. He makes a lot of juices like the ones you mention here. One night we made cucumber juice and put shots of vodka in it. It was shockingly delicious. And healthy. So everyone wins! Hehe. 😉

I’m supposed to be focused on juices and now you’ve got me thinking about vodka martinis. It’s a slippery slope… Cucumber and vodka – sounds delicious!

I’ve been toying with buying a juicer forever, but the thought of cleaning it puts me off… maybe I should just take the plunge. The health benefits will make up for time spent cleaning out pulp, surely? xx

The secret is to drink your juice as soon as it’s made. Don’t leave the kitchen because the thought of returning to clean the juicer will only deter you. Trust me on this!

Your juices look delicious. I have a juicer but need to invest in a new one. My favorite is carrots and apple, but I’ve found that some juices are best by themselves like watermelon or cucumber.

So many people turn their noses up at cucumber juice, but it’s so delicious. Sometimes simplicity really is the best thing.

I’ve recently started making smoothies about 6 months ago and although different to juicing (ie, downing the pulp not just the juice) I just love it – one in the fridge and one for now. I usually stick to the mix of kale, zucchini, apple, banana, pear – sometimes substitute kale for spinach, and sometimes add coconut water instead of plain water. Sweet, delish and filling.x

I too love smoothies but tend to stick with berries, bananas and tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, passion fruit etc). I love the idea of mixing some green into it as well. I’ll definitely give it a try with the kale. Thanks for the suggestion.
