As predicted, the Frenchies didn’t seem too keen on the idea of a good ole British Christmas cake and yes, I plan to hold it against them forever. Anyhow, this what I’m about to make for tomorrow’s dessert. They’re quite traditional so I’m not sure whether the cheesecake will work for them or not, but I know how much they appreciate good chocolate, so we’ll see. It’s rather nerve-racking making dessert for about 17 people, especially since I will have to finish the toppings/icing in my in-law’s kitchen. Lucky me for having the nicest in-law’s : )
In addition to the video, you can find this recipe on page 298 of Nigella’s Feast book. I’m also making a spiced orange cake for which I have no recipe but will improvise… So it’s quite possible that they’ll only be one cake for dessert. Wish me luck! Photographs to follow.
